We admitted that we were powerless over our Addiction and that our lives had become unmanageable.
We found out that we were powerless over our body, mind, stuff, things, thoughts, words, deeds, and were full of idols taking us away from Our Higher Power [God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit]. We saw that our lives looked like a dirty toilet.

We found out that we were powerless over our body, mind, stuff, things, thoughts, words, deeds, and were full of idols taking us away from Our Higher Power [God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit]. We saw that our lives looked like a dirty toilet. WE discovered that WE needed Our Higher Power to clean us up, and we became ready to let Him.
We came to believe that a power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity.
We were overwhelmed on our own, with the messes that we had created by living untethered on our own. Our body was out of order, our home was a disaster, our car was disorganized, our office was a mess, our family was in turmoil, our kids were out of control.

Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood Him.

What we tried to do on our own failed miserably failed, over and over. The lying, stealing, cheating, and manipulating didn't work. We were ready to turn to Our Higher Power to let Him lead. And while we were surrendering, we realized we didn't even know who God was or what God expected from us. We were so far away from honoring God [His Ten Commandments]. We had not read the Bible for quite some time. We were not contributing to our community. WE got on our knees and began to pray. We began to ASK, SEEK, KNOCK, waiting for Our Higher Power to show up and comfort us.

We made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.
We admitted to ourselves all our stuff, positive and negative, that we saw was hurting and helping on paper -- our ICKYness, overeating, weight gain, shortcomings, sexual promiscuity, procrastination, debt, bad habits AND saw our beauty, skills and talents, writing skills, cre

We admitted to ourselves all our stuff, positive and negative, that we saw was hurting and helping on paper -- our ICKYness, overeating, weight gain, shortcomings, sexual promiscuity, procrastination, debt, bad habits AND saw our beauty, skills and talents, writing skills, creativity, perseverance, great smile...) WE saw the curses we were under. WE shared gratitude for the roof over our heads, true friends, food on the table, and most importantly, WE saw God's grace and mercy.

6. See Character Defects *Readiness for Accountability
We admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another person the exact nature of our wrongs.
By trusting Our Father, we began to trust Him with all our stuff. Then we began to trust other trustworthy people even when it felt uncomfortable. WE became willing to let God lead us to what is right. We all have a Crap Sheet of Sins and an Integrity Sheet of Righteousness.

Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character.
With our eyes open, we began to see the large mess that we had created. We saw how we encouraged others into our mess. WE admitted that we didn't want to be like we were in our past. WE wanted something better. WE didn't know how to pull ourselves out of the mess that we created. WE asked Our Higher Power to help us.
WE got into our 12 Step readings and asked Our Higher Power to show us what to do based on the feeling or struggle in the moment. And His word led us to feel peace about our shortcomings. We prayed for God's solutions to our problems that we handed over to Him, and we are humbled to let God lead us into receiving help from Our Higher Power.
Made a list of all persons we had harmed and became willing to make amends to them all.
Our LIST was long. We felt the shame, blame and guilt for what we did and we truly felt bad.
We admitted our lack of responsibility and became willing to make things right with the people we love. We became willing that we had some growing up to do.
We made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others.
We are supposed to communicate with kindness and to fess up for what we did or didn't do. We asked Our Higher Power for guidance. WE righted the wrongs in our life by repairing the broken relationships that we had created.
Continued to take personal inventory, and when we were wrong, promptly admitted it.
We watched our fellow 12 Step friends and realized changes can be made one day at a time. That is the process of 12 Step Recovery, ONE DAY AT A TIME! Progress, not perfection. For God was so patient with us. WE work on forgiving those who hurt us and forgiv

We watched our fellow 12 Step friends and realized changes can be made one day at a time. That is the process of 12 Step Recovery, ONE DAY AT A TIME! Progress, not perfection. For God was so patient with us. WE work on forgiving those who hurt us and forgiving ourselves for not understanding sooner. And we begin to take action to correct our wrongs ONE DAY AT A TIME.

Praying is talking to God and having a personal relationship with Him. Listening and waiting on God to reveal Himself personally to you is Meditating. If we want God's blessings, then we need to stay inside of God's Will, trusting in our Higher Power’s guidance, which leads us in becoming more balanced one day at a time.

Having had a spiritual awakening as a result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to addicts, to others and to practice these principles in all our affairs.
When your eyes get opened and you see the truth so clearly, and your Light or Lamp is on, that Our Higher Power is the way to have a better life, you want to share the message of recovery to someone else who is struggling. I am continuously brought to my knees and humbled by what my Higher Power has done for me.
For those identifying as Celebrate Recovery, with Jesus as a focus, we know that God Our Father had His own Son, Jesus, Yeshua, the Messiah, sacrificed as the Lamb who takes away all the sins of the world, even my sins and yours. We can all be delivered from our hurts, habits, and hangups, one day at a time as we each cultivate a personal relationship with Our Higher Power, the Holy Spirit, so that we can live reasonably happy on earth and forever happy in eternal life.
